About Robert Sugarman

Robert Sugarman has written more than twenty plays. His play, Kaufman’s Barbershop, was produced by Shakespeare & Co. He is the author of the novels Antibes 1950 and Deadman’s Float and nonfiction works: Circus for Everyone: Circus Learning Around the World (Mountainside Press), Performing Shakespeare: A Way to Learn (Mountainside Press), and edited The Many Worlds of Circus (Cambridge Scholars Publishing). He was a member of the Playwrights and Directors Unit at the Actors Studio and worked with director Joan Littlewood in London.

Playwright and Novelist

Most of Robert Sugarman’s works were plays and written for the theatre. His book Honing the Craft in Hard Times: Solo Pieces and Two Actor Scenes includes speeches and scenes from some of his plays.
